How to Keep Your Home Cool without AC

brand

Your air conditioner isn’t working as well as it should, but you have to wait until payday to call for air conditioner repair service. In the meantime, you are struggling to keep your home at a reasonable temperature. There are a few things you can do to help keep the heat at bay.

Ways to Keep Your House Cool

  • Get solar screens to deflect the heat from your home, or close the curtains to keep the sun out, as windows are a huge source of heat gain. When the blazing sun shines directly into your house, it brings with it plenty of heat.
  • Look for any air leaks and fix them up with weatherstripping. While you may have seals around your windows and doors that keep the cold air in and the hot air out, you could be overlooking other, bigger leaks, like the one between your crawl space and the inside of your home.
  • Change your air filter more often to keep your home cooler. You may say you change your air filters with regularity, but this might not be the reality. Think about it, do you really have the oil in your car changed every 3,000 miles on the dot? Unlikely. You get it at four or even 5 thousand miles. The same could be true for your filters.

Hang in there and give us a call when you can and we will get your air conditioner up and running so you can be comfortable again.
